& REGIONAL COALITIONS.
Dear Governor Hochul,
As representatives of local municipalities, public institutions, unions, farms, food councils, organizations, and local businesses across New York State, we are expressing our support of the Good Food NY Bill (S.7638B / A.8091B). The bill passed the NYS Legislature in June 2026 with bipartisan support. Across the state of New York, municipalities cannot engage in values-based food procurement until the Good Food NY Bill is signed into law by Governor Hochul. The following jurisdictions have passed local resolutions demonstrating their commitment to implementing values-based food procurement once the bill is enacted:
- New York City: Resolution No. 183-2026
- City of Buffalo: Resolution No. 26-1137
- City of Rochester: Resolution No. 0040-2026
- Syracuse/Onondaga County: Resolution No. 130-2026
- City of Schenectady: Resolution No. 2026-042
- Schenectady County: Resolution No. 41-26
- Tompkins County: Resolution No. 2026-70
- Town of Rotterdam: Resolution No. 81.26
- Town of Niskayuna: Resolution No. 2026-57
The Good Food NY Bill would enable municipal public institutions across New York State to consider whether bidders for public food contracts meet values important to our communities, a process referred to as ‘values-based’ food procurement. These values reflect support for and positively impact our local and regional economies, the planet, our health, frontline food workers, farm animals, racial equity, and supply chain transparency.
Despite statewide support, municipalities cannot engage in values-based food procurement until the Good Food NY Bill is signed into law by Governor Hochul.
